This demo is just a beginning a single thread in a tapestry of intrigue, fate, and ancient powers. The full game will immerse you much deeper, into a breathing world where every choice shapes destinies and the stories of those around you.

The soundtrack

Was composed using ancient instruments, I sourced the best recordings I could get for vsts of lyres, a great ancient horn and the closest living relative of their wind instruments. Roman music to me has always had a sort of delicate phrygian minor sound thats both mystical and a little eastern. I think a lot of that stems from the type of instruments they had access to and the peoples and cultures that have kept those sounds and traditions. The idea of a large sounding Hans Zimmer Gladiator score is quite attractive it just doesn't always feel very historically grounded. Whilst I do love that soundtrack I wanted something a little simpler and more intimate for this story, focusing on the melody as if it were something that people would hum at the time. It comes back later, at the end of the demo with some sung lyrics in latin.

True Roman is the first Historical Western Visual Novel developed by Phantom Axis Studios. As an Ancient Roman Game set in you guessed it, Ancient Rome. The historical fiction accuracy and world building importance was integral to the design. This demo is just one of the first stories of the full experience.

The journey is far from over. True Roman is still in development, and the world will only grow richer from here. This is a mere slice of what we have completed and a tiny morsel of the banquet we intend to serve!
